Botox Injection Training – Why should I train with IAPAM?

botox injection trainingThe IAPAM’s Aesthetic Medicine Symposium with Botox Injection Training, is one of the very few Aesthetic Medicine/ Medical Spa training programs which is not operated or sponsored by equipment distributors, consultants or nurses.

The goal of the symposium is to give you all the information you need to immediately start adding Aesthetic Medicine and Botox Cosmetic procedures to your practice. The IAPAM is the only provider of aesthetic medical training courses that has 2 board certified cosmetic dermatologists on its teaching faculty, ensuring the best possible education for the attendees. Our Botulinum Toxin (Xeomin®, Dysport®, Botox®) training and dermal filler injection training is done in a clean medical facility, not a hotel room. Your cosmetic injectable training environment will be similar to your practice, since the injection technique for injecting a patient in a hotel room chair is much different, than a patient in a proper medical treatment table (chair).

Long-Term Support

The IAPAM offers the most comprehensive on-going support. We not only include a year of telephone/e-mail support for any medical spa or aesthetic practice questions, but all practices will receive a Botox® & Dermal Fillers training DVD set for you and your clinical staff.  For more information on the aesthetic medicine DVD training program and to view a video clip, please visit the Summary Page. Members also gain access to the IAPAM Member Only social networking groups, including LinkedIn.

Who Can Attend the Courses?

  • Doctors
  • Surgeons
  • Dentists
  • General practitioners
  • Dermatologists
  • Physicians Assistants (PA)
  • Nurse Practioners (NP)

Registered Nurses (and any other person, including the business/practice manager) can attend with a physician. Non- medical personnel (for example, the med-spa business manager) cannot do any medical procedures, but we combine business with the clinical, so there excellent learning opportunities here. Paramedics cannot attend and dental assistants can only attend if the dentist attends.

Do you offer a Board Certification in Aesthetic Medicine?

Currently the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) does not offer a board certification in Aesthetic Medicine. When it does, we will work with them to offer official board certification to our members. The ABMS currently states: “antiaging is not a medical specialty, according to the American Medical Association and the American Board of Medical Specialties (which puts the “board” in “board-certified”).”

Which Botulinum Toxin products do you use in the Botox training?

We use either Botox Cosmetic® from Allergan, Inc., Xeomin® from Merz Pharmaceutical, or Dysport® from Valeant.

Which Dermal Filler products do you use in the training?

We use either Juvederm® from Allergan, Inc, Boletero from Merz Pharmaceutical, or Restylane® or Perlane® from Valeant.

I’m a dentist can I attend?

Yes, however you should check with your local licensing board to ensure performing these procedures is within your scope of practice.

I’m an RN/NP/LPN/PA can I attend?

Yes, PA’s and NP’s can attend at the physician price (unless they are attending as an assistant to a physician, then they can pay the assistant price). Licensed medical staff and practice/business managers can certainly attend with their supervising physicians. If your supervising physician doesn’t attend, then you may attend at the regular physician price (based on availability).

How many people have we trained?

We have trained over 3,800 participants.

What Course Should I Start With?

If you have no, or very little experience with performing Botox injections the Aesthetic Medicine Symposium is the right program for you.

Will I get an opportunity to practice the actual aesthetic procedure during the course?

Yes – you will be in a position to actively apply the knowledge to the treatment of clients. We have pre-selected patients for you to inject that will best suit your training needs. You will find over 40% of the time will be spent with an opportunity for hands-on training.

Why is it only held in Scottsdale, Arizona?

We feel it’s critical that physicians adding aesthetics to their practice learn from true experts of the skin, and that is why we have board certified dermatologists teach you about the skin and injectables. In addition, part of the program includes you visiting a successful medical spa practice where you can see first hand how the practice is setup, and how skin care lines are merchandised. Plus, we follow the FDA’s recommendation and do not have injections done in hotel rooms, but an actual medical practice. 100% of our attendees have said the Aesthetic Medicine Symposium was worth the time and money!

How many CME credits are available?

For the Symposium we recommend you take up to 25.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CME credits for physicians, which are also accepted by all nursing boards.

I am from another country can I take courses from IAPAM?

We welcome all practitioners regardless of country of origin.

Do I get a course certificate?

Yes, you will receive a certificate which is required by many medical malpractice insurance providers. You will also receive a glass membership plaque to display in your practice or medspa.

What is your cancellation policy?

Once your payment has been received and processed, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. If for some reason you cannot attend the symposium you must give at least 7 days notice to receive a full credit for a future symposium, no refunds will be given. If for some unforeseen reason the symposium is canceled, you will receive a full refund limited to the registration fees already paid. The IAPAM is not responsible for non-refundable airline tickets, related travel costs, hotel accommodations purchased, or any other out of pocket expense you may incur. Symposium locations, agendas, and speakers are subject to change. The IAPAM is not responsible for additional credit card charges your bank may charge.

What is the Deadline for Registration?

Classes are filled on a first-come, first served basis. Most classes fill up well in advance as the class size is limited so every attendee gets plenty of one on one instruction. We hope to see you at a course very soon.

Can you suggest nearby accommodation to the course venue?

The Symposium takes place at the Gainey Suites Hotel, a luxury resort suites hotel centrally and conveniently located in the heart of Scottsdale’s fashionable Gainey Ranch neighborhood. The stylish luxury resort suites hotel, Gainey Suites at Gainey Ranch, has everything you’re looking for, including: Complimentary breakfast and evening reception, Free Wireless High Speed Internet (WIFI) in all Guestrooms and Public Areas and use of PC with high-speed internet access and laser printer for guest use. Please book early, this hotel usually sells out!

What will I wear at the training course?

There is no dress code on our training course. Just wear something you will be comfortable in as it is a full day course and you will be standing for a large part of the afternoon.

What do I need to bring with me?

Just your energy, we supply the equipment, injectable supplies and toxin, as well as the patients!

Is there someone I can speak to regarding the course?

Yes, whether you have already booked into a course or are still thinking about it, any of our team can help on 1-800-219-5108 ext 704.

Do you offer any on-going support?

Yes, after attending the Symposium you will receive a year of practice support. You will also have an opportunity to integrate an entire comprehensive aesthetic medicine procedure training program into your practice via our on-line clinical training system. By using the included the Botox/Fillers/Microdermabrasion/Chemical Peels DVD, you will be able to establish a comprehensive training program for your current and any new staff.

How soon can I get started?

After your training course you can start practicing immediately. Many practitioners like to practice on friends and family first before moving onto the public but this isn’t necessary. To make the most of the course it is a good idea to treat people within the first month while your confidence is high and the training is fresh in your mind. If for some reason this isn’t possible you are welcome to come back on the same foundation course again for free as a ‘refresher’.
