How long after Botox® can you get a facial?

Many patients want to know if they can get a facial after Botox®. Facials are often part of a skincare routine, both for the results they bring as well as the enjoyment — they are usually an enjoyable experience.

So, while it may be tempting to keep your regular facial appointment later that day, it’s best if you postpone.

How long after Botox® can you get a facial

It’s advised to wait at least 24 hours after receiving Botox® before getting a facial, as your skin needs time to heal. Facials often involve rubbing and massaging, which can interfere with the Botox® injection sites.

More intense treatments, like chemical peels or microdermabrasion, should be delayed for about a week after Botox® to avoid disrupting results. Treating your face gently during the initial days following your injections will help you achieve the best possible outcome.

Why do facials have to wait after Botox®?

The main issue regarding facials after a Botox® treatment, is related to the risk of spreading. You want to avoid all activities that could cause your Botox® injection to spread to other muscles.

Rubbing your face shortly after having Botox® injections can cause the Botox® to spread away from the injection site and into unwanted areas.

Can you get a facial before Botox®?

It’s not a problem to have a facial before you have Botox®. Since most facials are shallow and done only to remove blemishes, acne and refresh the skin you can have both done on the same day. Again, as long as your Botox® treatment is after your facial.
