Your certification fee will be automatically processed each year on the anniversary of your sign up date.
When it’s time to recertify, you can complete your requirements all at once or at your own pace throughout the year.
Once complete, you will gain access to your recertification assessment and receive your updated certification via email.
What Is Required?
Providers must complete the following courses and assessments each year to earn and maintain their Certified Aesthetic Provider™ status:
- Introduction to Cosmetic Injectables (considered completed if attended Aesthetic Medicine Symposium in January 2022 or later)
- Advanced Cosmetic Injectables
- Aesthetic Medicine (microdermabrasion, chemical peels and lasers) (considered completed if attended Aesthetic Medicine Symposium in January 2022 or later)
- Introduction to PRP for Aesthetics
- Completed Aesthetic Provider Practice Log (12 patients)
Courses are available as self-study online training and are updated regularly through the IAPAM Learning Lab.
Providers will have unlimited 24/7 access to all training modules included with the Certified Aesthetic Provider™ program so long as certification is maintained.
By certifying annually, providers also qualify for up to 24 CMEs each year.
Individual certificates for each course will be emailed to you upon completion of your assessment. You can access your Certified Aesthetic Provider™ assessment and certificate upon submission of your Cosmetic Injector Practice Log.
What is the Aesthetic Provider Practice Log?
In order to obtain your certification from the IAPAM as an aesthetic provider each year, you are required to submit a log of 12 patient treatments to demonstrate you are actively treating a minimum number of patients each year. The practice log must include the patient's first name and last initial, date treated, brief description of the treatment and any product used. Logs can be submitted upon completion of your online courses to gain access to your certification assessment.

Who is eligible for training?
The Certified Aesthetic Provider™ program is open to licensed medical professionals with the following designations: MD/DO, DMD/DDS, NP, PA.
All other healthcare providers must be sponsored by their supervisor to access the certification. It is recommended you check with your local governing body to ensure you are working within your scope of practice prior to registering for training.
How long do I have access to the course?
You will have unlimited access for 365 days with each certification renewal. Come back and review the information as much as you like – even after you’ve completed your training!
How long do the courses take?
Training times vary depending on the person, but on average, each course can take you anywhere from 7-10 hours to complete.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes, upon the successful completion of each course you will be emailed your certificate.
After completing all 4 courses included in the certification and submitting your Cosmetic Injector Practice Log, you will become a Certified Aesthetic Provider™!
How are the courses designed?
Courses are designed as self-study training modules that you can do at your own pace. They include a combination of text lectures, detailed videos and comprehensive downloadable content.
Can I earn CMEs?
Yes, the following courses are eligible for up to 8 CMEs each: Introduction to Cosmetic Injectables, Advanced Cosmetic Injectables, Introduction to PRP for Aesthetics.
By completing your certification each year, you can earn up to 24 CMEs!
Do I need to complete a practicum to earn my certification?
While a formal practicum is not required to become a Certified Aesthetic Provider™, you are required to submit evidence that you have completed a minimum of 12 patient treatments with cosmetic injectables each year to keep up your certification.
You must submit your Cosmetic Injector Practice Log noting the patient’s first name and last initial, date of treatment, type of cosmetic injectable used and brief description of the treatment.
The AAFP has reviewed Cosmetic Injectables for Healthcare Providers and deemed it acceptable for up to 20.00 Enduring Materials, Self-Study AAFP Prescribed credits. Term of Approval is from 09/01/2023 to 08/31/2024. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
The AAFP has reviewed Aesthetic Lasers & Body Contouring for Healthcare Providers and deemed it acceptable for up to 5.00 Enduring Materials, Self-Study AAFP Prescribed credit(s). Term of Approval is from 06/01/2024 to 05/31/2025. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.
