But how does vitamin B12 help with weight loss?

Well, there does not appear to be very strong evidence supporting it as such. However, it is often prescribed as a treatment along with other weight loss solutions. There could be a reason for this – the low levels of vitamin B12 in the body can make one tired and weak. 

Supplementing these individuals with vitamin B12 can help boost energy levels, which enhancing overall capacity to become more active. This burns calorie, which aids weight loss.

However, this is not scientifically proven. Furthermore, one can imagine the opposite to be true. Low levels of vitamin B12 can promote weight loss due to the tiredness etc., and supplementing it can help one gain weight.

So are vitamins really a weight loss wonder?

Well, probably not. Vitamins play a role in keeping one healthy, especially if they are on a weight loss plan. Over-indulging in vitamin supplementation is not necessarily harmful, and water-soluble vitamin B is usually expelled from the body. 

Fat-soluble vitamins, on the other hand, tend to accumulate in the body and can cause problems. It may well be that the other weight loss measures that are being followed, along with vitamin B supplementation may be the real reason for weight loss.

Conclusion

Vitamins are an essential component of our diet and are responsible for maintaining normal bodily functions. The recent interest that has been expressed with regards to its use as a weight-loss supplement is unfortunately not backed by any clear evidence. 

In fact, the contrary may be true, and due to the improvement in overall health, individuals may even experience weight gain. Always make sure you take appropriate medical advice before taking any forms of supplementation.
