How often should you get Botox®?

There’s a reason Botox® continues to be the undisputed most popular non-invasive treatment. Its ability to provide effective results has made it a very well respected and well-recognized name. First, it’s important to note that the best Botox® schedule is one that’s personalized to you, and you alone. It can vary from person to person and relies heavily on the following factors:
How often should you get Botox®
    • Your age
    • Your muscle mass
    • Your gender
    • Your lifestyle
    • The volume of your injection
    • The type of Botox® used
    • The elasticity of your skin
    • The area being treated

How often do I need Botox® to see consistent results?

If you’re looking for a rough guideline so you can set your expectations, most Botox® results last on average three to four months. Some patients find that, over time, Botox® has helped train their facial muscles to contract less. In those cases, a patient may be able to extend their treatments even longer.

Should you get Botox® in your 20's?

As we age, the muscle movement caused by the facial expressions that we make etch fine lines and wrinkles into the skin. These signs of aging can start to develop in your late 20’s, when collagen and elastin production also start to decrease.

Preventative Botox® in your late 20’s can be an effective method to smooth out static wrinkles that have started to develop and prevent the formation of deep wrinkles.

Due to dynamic movements and skin type, some patients in their late 20’s find that they develop wrinkles and facial lines early on. If this is the case, you can help delay the process by using Botox®. This will inhibit your ability to make the expressions that lead to those wrinkles in the first place.

When you start seeing fine lines at rest around your eyes or mouth, that’s when you should consider Botox® for the first time.

How often should you get Botox® in your 20’s?

Again, as mentioned earlier, Botox® wears off after approximately three to four months following the procedure. In your 20’s, you likely do not need the treatment with that frequency. For most patients in their 20’s, small doses every six to eight months is adequate.

Should you get Botox® in your 30’s?

Men and women who are in their early 30’s and have the first tiny signs of aging, usually want to use Botox® as a preventative measure to avoid deep lines and wrinkles for as long as possible.

At this age, wrinkles tend to be visible even when you’re not making a facial expression—particularly around the brows and eyes.

Sunbathing, smoking and drinking alcohol can all cause premature wrinkles. You’re likely to start seeing crow’s feet around the corners of your eyes at this age. This can be even more pronounced if you were a fan of sunbathing, late nights, drinking and smoking in your 20’s.

If you are showing more intense visible signs of aging, then Botox® is a great option to address those concerns.

How often should you get Botox® in your 40s

In your 40s, you may have harsh lines and wrinkles that have formed known as static lines, these wrinkles are present without you smiling or frowning so Botox® treatment here would help soften these lines and maybe after a few treatments some lines may be erased and you may need dermal fillers combined with Botox® to help lift out the deeper grooves.

As we age, it takes longer for skin cells to regenerate and our skin’s collagen and elastin start breaking down more quickly. At this age, it’s very common to see deeper lines around the eyes, forehead lines, and frown lines. The recommended treatment is once every three to four months.

How often should you get Botox® in your 50’s?

In our 50’s we continue to see loss of volume in the face which can contribute to marionette lines, nasolabial folds and loss of cheek volume. Lines can start to appear around the lips and we tend to lose lip volume.

Menopause also has a significant impact on the skin. As your estrogen levels drop, it will be more difficult for your skin to retain moisture, causing it to dry out and wrinkle more easily.

Botox® is particularly effective at treating frown lines between the eyes in women in their 50s, but other areas of the face may need extra help. Botox® can be combined with other treatments such as dermal fillers to lessen the appearance of stubborn wrinkles.

In your 50s, continue to get these injections every 3-4 months for fine lines and wrinkles.
