Do you want to perform at a higher level? Do you want to get more done? In less time? Do you want to have more energy? Better health? More happiness? Of course, you do, who doesn’t? The Power of Full Engagement is based on the premise that performance, health, and happiness are grounded in the skillful management of energy, since the number of hours in a day is fixed, but the quantity and quality of energy available to us are not.
Jim Loehr (author of The Power of Full Engagement) is a well-known sports coach and gives several strategies on getting the most out of the fast-paced world in which we live.
One example is identifying your Ultradian Rhythm. Which is “somewhere between 90 and 120 minutes, the body begins to crave a period of rest and recovery. Signals include a desire to yawn and stretch, hunger pangs, increased tension, difficulty concentrating, an inclination to procrastinate or fantasize, and a higher incidence of mistakes.” He goes on to say, “if we want to be at our best, we need to live a rhythmic life with periods of intense activity followed by periods of intense rest. We need to live life as a series of sprints, not a never-ending marathon.” I am sure reading this book will allow you to get more out of each and every day!
