Baby Botox®: what is it?

Botox injections have become an everyday treatment when it comes to enhancing the cosmetic appearance of the skin.

Not only is treatment safe and effective, it is also extremely affordable, making more and more people opt for this treatment today.

Unfortunately, Botox has sometimes earned a reputation for freezing facial expressions due to overly aggressive injections by less experienced injectors. As a result, there still appears to be a small amount of ‘stigma’ attached to Botox® injections as the change is visibly evident to the excess, making it fairly obvious to everyone if a person has had Botox® treatment.

These days however, discreet or ‘baby’ Botox® injections are available. Here we shall take a look at this briefly.

How does Baby Botox® work?

People who undergo Botox® injection treatments prefer to preserve their natural look while reaping the benefits of Botox® treatment on their lines and wrinkles.

Current Botox® treatments are aimed at getting rid of almost all lines and wrinkles on the face, and can result in a look that can to some appear unnatural.

Baby Botox® is simply a smaller amount of Botox. Nowadays, many practitioners prefer to use micro-doses to treat wrinkles for a more natural look. These smaller doses or ‘Baby Botox®’, can deliver subtle results for a fresh-faced look, something that’s become increasingly popular with both practitioners delivering it and patients demanding it.

What are the benefits of Baby Botox®?

The cookie cutter approach by less experienced injectors can deliver less than optimal results, as everyone’s face is different. The goal of smaller targeted injections is all about personalization.

This is one of the reasons it’s important to go to a practitioner that has received hands-on Botox® training from a recognized association.

The subtle nature of Baby Botox® makes it perfect for those hoping to prevent lines in the first place. It can also help you maintain a more natural appearance, while retaining facial movement.

Who is Baby Botox® suited for?

baby Botox®

This treatment is ideal for someone who simply wants to look refreshed and rejuvenated, and not like they have had something obviously done. It can work best for younger patients, or patients who have less defined or etched lines.

What areas do Baby Botox® treatments target?

In most cases, baby Botox® treatments are directed at treating crow’s feet (fine lines and wrinkles seen at the corner of the eyes), frown lines and a few wrinkles on the forehead.

Areas such as those under the eyes are not injected. The eyebrow may also be injected to help open up the eyes a bit more, and this can have remarkable effects on overall appearance of the patient.

In a nutshell, treatments are strategically limited to only certain areas of the face, preserving the natural look while offering all the benefits that Botox® brings with it.

Risks

The risks with baby Botox® injections are the same as the ones seen with regular Botox®, as the nature of the injection given does not change.

Patients report mild bruising and bleeding at the site of injection, which resolves spontaneously without leaving any scars.

Infections are rare as the procedure is performed under sterile conditions. Allergic reactions may occur to components within the Botox® injection but these are rare and there are hardly any reported cases of severe reactions.

Baby Botox vs Botox: Conclusion

Baby Botox® is becoming more and more popular due to the fact that it preserves the patient’s natural look, while getting rid of most of the fine wrinkles on the face. Gone are the days where frozen faces and an “unnatural” look are the norm.

There is no doubt that Baby Botox® may become the preferred treatment by many patients in the future.
